Avis
4.9(48)Beautiful hiking area with gorgeous views if you are lucky enough to go on a clear and sunny day. You need a reservation which is best made a week in advance as spots fill up. There are police and helpful park staff along the way. Guadalupe is a 5-10 minute walk further up the road from the trailhead. To access the area you can take the bus that goes to Choachí and walk up the road approximately 2 km to the trailhead. If you come by car, there is limited parking. You could take an Uber or taxi there, but you likely will not be able get one back to Bogota. I took an Uber there and the public bus back to Bogota from the main road.
Amazing experience. Try to book the “Alto de la Cruz” trail. Is totally worth!!
The Guadalupe-Aguanoso Trail is one of the most attractive ecological routes in the Eastern Hills of Bogotá. Managed by the Bogotá Water and Sewerage Company, it crosses the Eastern Forest Reserve and offers a unique combination of nature, history, and spectacular panoramic views of the city. During the hike, you'll traverse Andean forest, high-Andean forest, and páramo ecosystems, habitats for diverse flora and fauna native to the region. The trail connects the Guadalupe and Aguanoso hills, allowing you to enjoy natural landscapes, fresh air, and viewpoints with 360-degree views of Bogotá and its surroundings. The route is of intermediate to high difficulty, so a moderate level of fitness is recommended. The hike typically takes between 3 and 4 hours, depending on your pace and stops to admire the scenery. In addition to its natural beauty, the trail holds significant historical and cultural value, as the Eastern Hills were considered sacred sites by the Muisca people and later became the setting for the city's religious traditions. My rating: It's an excellent option for those seeking a challenging yet safe hike with some of the best views of Bogotá. The blend of nature, history, and tranquility makes the Guadalupe-Aguanoso trail an unmissable experience for hiking and photography enthusiasts.
If you visit the Guadalupe Sanctuary, take the opportunity to hike the Guadalupe-Aguanoso trail. It's not demanding or difficult, and you can stay in the pine forest. Unfortunately, the trail isn't open all the way to Cerro Aguanoso, but it's worth it. I recommend going to Guadalupe on Saturday, as the road is easier to navigate. Avoid Sundays, and therefore, hike the trail on Saturday along with the Aqueduct.
To enter, you need to make a reservation online at Cerros de Acueducto. It's recommended to make your reservation on Mondays for a morning hike to the summit on the weekend. Bring light and be in good physical condition for the climb. The pine forest is also a great option for families to enjoy the hike.
